Feeling stressed? Support is available

14 April 2025

Officers and staff are being reminded that help and support is available if they are feeling stressed or anxious.

Police Mutual has published a factsheet to coincide with Stress Awareness Month which is marked each April.

It lists links to organisations that can help, such as the NHS, Mind, the World Health Organisation and Anxiety UK, but also gives some self-help guidance such as:

  • Breathing exercises
  • Keeping a daily routine
  • Staying active
  • Sleeping well, and
  • Talking to other people.

Stress

Stress Awareness Month is organised by the Stress Management Society and seeks to inform people about the causes and effects of stress, promote effective stress management techniques, encourage open conversations to reduce the stigma around stress and mental health issues and provide resources to help people and organisations manage stress effectively.

Police Mutual launches wellbeing factsheets each month as part of its commitment to offering products and services for police officers, staff, their families and the wider police family.

This month’s other factsheets are:
