It is now two years since the tragic death of Dyfed Powys Inspector Gareth Earp.
Gareth died in a road accident as he travelled home from work on the A470 near Rhayader on 29 June 2023. He was 43.
Dyfed Powys Police Federation chair Delme Rees said: “Gareth’s death sent shockwaves around the Force and was felt deeply by officers, staff, police volunteers and the communities we serve.
“Today we keep Gareth, his wife Tamsin, their three sons and the rest of his family and friends in our thoughts as they continue to adjust to life without him.”
Gareth spent most of his 21-year Force career with Specialist Operations and had also been an inspector in Ceredigion.
At the time of his death, Gareth was the Roads Policing Unit inspector. He had become a police driving instructor, road deaths lead investigator, pursuit tactical advisor and team leader on the motorcycle VIP Escort Team escorting world leaders and members of the Royal Family across Wales, London and Scotland.
Gareth died just weeks before he was due to be the team leader for the motorbike escort for the King and Queen when they visited Brecon.
