Are you paying too much tax? Could you be due a refund?

Help is available for Dyfed Powys Police Federation members to check if they are paying the correct amount.

More than 11,000 police officers in England and Wales have received refunds after getting their tax codes professionally checked by The Tax Refund Company.

HMRC makes it an employee’s responsibility to check they have the correct tax code. It’s not something an employer does or can do.

HMRC allows people to check the past four years to see if they have overpaid.

Since 2023, 83 per cent of officers who have used the service have discovered they are paying too much tax.

Officers in Dyfed Powys have received refunds that average £201.20 each. Some members have received as much as £526.41.
