Dyfed Powys DC Paul Hetherington died on this day 24 years ago.
Paul, 35, was injured when the vehicle in which he was travelling was in collision with a service lorry while he was on surveillance training on 18 October 1990. He died in hospital on 29 October 1990. Three of his colleagues died instantly in the accident.
Dyfed Powys Police Federation chair Delme Rees: “This incident was a very dark day in the history of our Force and had a huge impact on not just police officers and staff but also the wider community we serve.
“Our thoughts today are with Paul’s family, friends and former colleagues.”
DCs Leonid Evans, Nicholas Tabraham and Roger Meyrick also lost their lives in the accident.
