This year’s Dyfed Powys Bravery Award nominee has revealed how the new Home Secretary Yvette Cooper ‘thanked officers’ for their daily service during an exclusive reception held at Downing Street.
Attended by Yvette Cooper and new policing minister Dame Diana Johnson DBE, it was the first official event to be hosted by the members of the new Government since the General Election (which took place on Thursday 4 July).
PC Rhodri Jones joined dozens of other officers from across the country who has been nominated for a national Police Bravery Award 2024.
His nomination came after he saved a woman and her dog who fell 20 feet down a dam.
“What a lovely occasion,” said Rhodri, who was joined at the reception by his wife, Ira.
“The Home Secretary gave a lovely speech, praising officers for their daily service. She was very grateful and thanked us for our ongoing work.”
Rhodri and Ira, along with dozens of fellow nominees, will be attending the Police Bravery Awards, organised by the Police Federation of England and Wales, tonight in London.
