The Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has launched a public consultation on the 2025/26 policing budget – and Federation members are encouraged to have their say.
PCC Dafydd Llywelyn is inviting residents and businesses to share their views on the police precept, the portion of council tax that funds local policing.
Dyfed Powys Police Federation chair Delme Rees said: “Dyfed Powys, like many forces, is facing tough funding, budgeting and spending decisions.
“It’s vital that people living in the Dyfed Powys Force area have their say and share their thoughts on the budget – and that includes our members and their colleagues.”
Dafydd said the increased precept for 2024/25 enabled improvements to the Force Command Centre, which ensured faster and more effective responses, supported PCSO numbers, and helped to sustain current service levels.
But he is warning that further funding is needed to ‘maintain the level of service our communities expect’.
He said: “Setting the police precept is always challenging, particularly during times of high inflation, rising costs, and increasing demands on our police service.
“While Dyfed-Powys Police has worked hard to improve efficiency and deliver savings, further funding is needed to maintain the level of service our communities expect.”
He added: “Despite careful financial planning, we are faced with tough decisions. My priority remains ensuring that we maintain an efficient and effective police service to keep our communities safe.
“This is a challenging process, but hearing your views is essential. I strongly encourage you to take part in the consultation and share your thoughts.”
The survey closes on 6 January. Take part in the survey and share your views.
