Dyfed Powys Police Federation chair Gareth Jones said he’s delighted the National Police Memorial Day service will go ahead as planned after organisers were forced to find a new venue.
The service will now take place at the New Theatre in Cardiff on Sunday 24 September.
The change of venue came after St David’s Hall, which was due to host the service, was closed due to the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) panels in the building.
Gareth said: “It’s great news that the organisers of the National Police Memorial Day have been able to find a new venue in such quick time.
“It is such an important day for policing and I’m really pleased that we’re going to be able to come together to pay our respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving the public.”
Doors will now open at 12.30pm, with everyone asked to be seated by 1.30pm for the service to start at 2pm.
There’s still time to register to attend the event. The booking system will close on Wednesday 20 September. People who have already registered don’t need to take any further action.
A reception planned for the evening of Saturday 23 September has been cancelled as the venue is not available.
