Dyfed Powys Police Federation

Federation pays tribute to Inspector Gareth Earp

1 July 2023

Dyfed Powys Police Federation has paid tribute to Inspector Gareth Earp, 43, who tragically died in a road traffic collision on Thursday (29 June).

The incident took place on the A470 near Rhayader when Gareth was travelling home from work.

Branch chair Gareth Jones said he was a hugely respected officer and will be sorely missed by all his family, friends and colleagues.

“He was a friend as well as a colleague and I had the pleasure of working alongside him during our time on the Roads Policing Unit together and more latterly during his time as Inspector in Ceredigion, prior to his move to the Specialist Operations Dept in HQ,” said Gareth.

“Gareth leaves behind his wife Tamsin and his three boys Ethan, Theo and Joel. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“Our thoughts are also with the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision who remains in hospital.”

Any officers who require support from the Police Federation are asked to contact their local workplace representative or the office in Carmarthen.
