Positive feedback prompts more Police Federation roadshows

28 April 2026

Durham Police Federation will be holding additional member roadshows following overwhelmingly positive feedback from officers across the force.

Branch chair Louise Guest said the decision to continue and expand the initiative comes directly from the success of recent events and the strong engagement of attendees.

“The feedback we’ve had from officers has been fantastic,” she said. “Because of that, we’ve decided to run more roadshows to make sure even more members have the opportunity to find out more about the Federation.

"A big thank you to all those who have visited us so far and engaged with the branch."

The roadshows are designed to give officers an informal space to meet Federation representatives, raise concerns, and learn more about the support available to them. They also provide a platform to introduce trusted partners who offer additional services to the policing community.

With momentum building, the Federation has committed to continuing the roadshows, ensuring more members can access support, share their experiences, and strengthen their connection with the branch.

“These events are shaped by our members,” Louise continued, adding: “The more feedback we receive, the better we can represent and support the workforce.”

A highlight of the recent roadshows was showcasing the partnership between the Federation and No1 CopperPot Credit Union. The credit union is dedicated to serving the police family, including officers, staff, and their relatives, and already works with more than 30 forces nationwide.

Deputy chair Louise Ramshaw welcomed the partnership, particularly the practical financial support it brings.

“The Force’s payroll department has agreed to set up a payroll deduction option, which will be in place from April’s pay,” she said. “For example, if you have a regular savings plan, it will come off your pay before you get it, which is really convenient for most.”

The initiative is expected to make saving and managing finances easier for members, reinforcing the Federation’s wider commitment to wellbeing both in and out of work.

Louise also expressed her gratitude to NOSA for supporting the roadshows with a practical product aimed at frontline officers. The company has donated 2,500 mentholated nose plugs for members to try - designed to help manage exposure to strong odours often encountered in policing.

“I am incredibly grateful to NOSA,” Louise said, adding:  “They make incredibly discreet mentholated nose plugs which are, in my opinion, a real game-changer for dealing with work involving strong odours.”

Tomorrow (Wednesday 29 April), the team will be at Durham City Police Station, in the Atrium, from 1pm, along with representatives from No1 CopperPot and NHS Vehicle Fleet Solutions. Once again, there will be plenty of Nosa nose plugs available to hand out.
