Police officers are £1,000s worse off than they were 10 years ago as a result of wages failing to keep pace with prices.
Sgts/PCs inflation-adjusted pay is £5,595 a year lower than a decade ago, according to a TUC report.
Richie Murray, Secretary of Cleveland Police Federation, said: “10 years on and our members are still are paying the price from the pay freeze whilst inflation still rises.
“How can officers be more than £5,000 worse off?”
“Enough is enough the government need to step up into 2022 and acknowledge the outstanding work of our members – and give them the pay rise they deserve”
