Fun In The Sun At City Family Day

24 June 2024

City of London Police officers, staff and their families gathered in the sunshine at the Guildhall Yard in the heart of the City for the force’s annual Family Funday at the weekend.

With a carnival theme, children were entertained with music, dancers and activities – as well as stalls from departments across the force.

City of London Police Federation Chair Mike Reed said: “The weather looked awful to start with but eventually the sun shone through and so did the fun and the smiles of the guests and all those involved

“Now an annual event, there were stalls from almost every directorate who put on displays of what they do and the skills used to perform their roles. It is a great way for families to get a glimpse of what their loved ones do at work, often when they are missing key events at home.

“The event aims to provide a safe and relaxing environment for our officers and staff to enjoy a free day out by way of thank you from the force for all they do to keep the City of London and further afield safe.

“I'd like to thank all the Federation Reps, officers and members of staff who volunteered, those that sponsored the event and of course all those that braved what looked like a wet day in the morning to participate in the day.

“As always, a special thanks goes to Operations Manager and general organiser of all things good, Jo Westhead.”

The event would not have been possible without our generous key sponsors: City of London Crime Prevention Association; City of London Corporation Police Authority Board; City of London Police; City of London Police Federation – plus support from George Burrows; Metfriendly; and Uniform Mortgages.

City of London Police Federation would also like to extend their thanks to Star Dancers UK, who provided Carnival dancers and drummers; JS Fun Event Hire, who provided the outdoor lawn games; Emily's Entertainment, who provided exquisite face painters and a balloon artist; Mark Woolston from Oscar Kilo, the National Police Wellbeing Service, who travelled from the north of England to support the event; Neil Tanner and a crew from London Fire Brigade; and Tony Seymour from the Met who brought the ever popular US Cop Car.
