Incoming Transferees:
Transfer of existing Federation membership and any related insurance cover is not automatic on joining City. To sign up, please complete the Application for new recruits, transferees and returning officers and carefully consider what level of cover you wish to have in place. Officers are required to complete an application within six month of transferring, even if they were an existing member of the Police Federation in their previous force.
Upcoming Retirees:
On retirement, Federation membership ceases but officers already subscribing to the Group Insurance scheme as a serving officer can continue if they wish. Note this is not automatic and officers are required to complete Group Insurance Application for Retirees no later than one month from retirement. The form also contains the option to add retiree Travel Insurance. See Retirees and Pensions info.
NB – Officers Supt +
On promotion to Superintendent, officers are no longer eligible for Federation cover and are encouraged to join the Supers Association. It is an officers responsibility to contact the Pay Office to request cancellation of their Fed subs. Superintendants+ are eligible to retain or join the Group insurance scheme (and Travel as an add on) if they wish by notifying payroll.

*As of 19-September-25 the the underwriter for the Mobile Phone & Gadget insurance has changed from BSpoke to Allianz (AWP)* There are no changes to the cover/T&Cs other than the below enhancements:
- The previous policy had a 90 day limit for trips abroad/travelling – there is no limit under the new policy
- The new policy covers refurbished devices from any UK VAT registered retailer supplied with a 12-month warranty (previously the policy only covered refurbished devices from the manufacturer or network provider).
