Suzanne Ferris joined Essex Police in 1997 and became a detective on child protection in 2001. She transferred to City of London Police as a detective constable in 2005 and, despite initially planning to spend only a couple of years with the City, Suzanne has dedicated 18 years to the force, showcasing her passion for her work and the organisation. She is still thriving in the force as a detective chief inspector and has spent the majority of this time in the economic crime arena. Suzanne also spent four years in its Professional Standards Department (PSD) and worked closely with the City of London Police Federation. Suzanne's motivation to become a Federation representative stemmed from her experience in the PSD, where she recognised the importance of having someone who supports and advocates for fellow officers. She is proud to be the first ever female executive at the City of London Police Federation, having been elected as its secretary in May 2023. As the detective lead for her Federation branch, sitting on the Police Federation National Detectives' Forum, she is also pressing for the profile of detectives to be raised in force, and is encouraging more detectives to consider becoming Fed reps to support colleagues in need. |
