Update on investigation into West Mids Federation Chair

PFEW can confirm that Richard Cooke, Chair of the West Midlands Police Federation, has been found in breach of the Federation’s Standards [Appendix 8].

As a result, Mr Cooke will be prevented from standing to election to any public facing principal roles with the Federation for a for a period of 12 months from his suspension in December 2024.

The outcome follows a process led by an independent investigating officer and a panel of elected Federation reps.

PFEW will not be commenting on details of the case and believes speculation on this matter is unhelpful. However, we would stress that the Federation’s standards processes are set in statutory legislation and applied rigorously and fairly in each case.
