Workplace rep elections: nominations close on Wednesday

21 September 2026

Members interested in becoming workplace Federation representatives must submit their nominations by Wednesday (23 September).

Nominations close at 4pm.

Voting to fill the vacancies on the West Midlands Police Federation Branch Council will take place between Friday (25 September) and 9 October with members receiving details of how to vote by email.

“Around 50 members have been in touch to express an interest in standing for election, though I am currently not sure how many of those have actually submitted their nomination papers,” says Matt Manwaring, branch deputy secretary.

“But I would urge any officer interested in putting themselves forward to complete the nomination forms and submit them as soon as possible and, of course, if anyone does want to know more about the role please get in touch with me, the other full-time officials or a local workplace rep.

“We are keen to make the branch as representative of the membership as possible so we would particularly like to see members from any minority group put themselves forward.”

Being a workplace Federation rep is a voluntary role and is carried out alongside an officer’s Force duties. The Federation provides full training and support is always available through workplace reps and the full-time officials based at Guardians House.
