Twenty years ago today West Midlands PC Ryan Michael Hunt died in a road accident.
Ryan, 31, was killed on 25 May 2006 when he was in collision with a lorry while he was on a foot patrol working on an investigation in Doncaster during a secondment to South Yorkshire Police.
He had joined the Force in 2001 after five years’ service with the Royal Navy.
Ryan played a large part in the jailing of a number of men caught during Operation Accordance in which he had adopted a false identity to help trap suspected drug dealers.
He was described as a “popular and respected” officer.
