PCC names preferred candidate for Chief Constable

Scott Green has been named as the Police and Crime Commissioner’s preferred candidate for the role of the Force’s Chief Constable.

He has been serving as Acting Chief Constable since January this year and, after a rigorous selection process, Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster named him as the officer he wanted to lead the Force.

Jess Davies, chair of West Midlands Police Federation, said: “We welcome this news and offer our congratulations to Mr Green. We have built a good working relationship with him over the last nine months and look forward to building on this.

“His appointment, once confirmed, will also bring some continuity and stability to the Force during what are extremely challenging times for the police service.”

Mr Green said: “I am pleased to have been named as the Commissioner’s preferred candidate to be the next Chief Constable of West Midlands Police. I would be absolutely delighted to continue to serve the people of the West Midlands and honoured to lead our brilliant workforce of officers, staff and volunteers.”

The West Midlands Police and Crime Panel will decide whether to approve Mr Green’s appointment as Chief when it meets on 28 September.
