All members interested in seeking election as a workplace representative are being invited to find out more at an online Q and A session being held next week.
The Q and A next Friday (21 August) will run from 10am to 11am with the branch’s full-time officials attending to answer any questions officers may have.
West Midlands Police Federation currently has vacancies for workplace representatives and will be holding elections next month with nominations opening on 9 September and closing on 23 September. Voting will take place between 25 September and 9 October.
“We have already had a lot of interest from members considering putting themselves forward for election,” says Matt Manwaring, branch deputy secretary, “But we are keen to hear from any other officers who might consider standing.
“The Q and A session will enable officers to find out more, ask any questions they might have and then make a final decision on whether they want to become a Federation rep.
“Being a rep can be challenging but it is also very rewarding. It is a voluntary role and is therefore carried out alongside an officer’s Force duties. The Federation provides full training and support is always available through workplace reps and the full-time officials based at Guardians House.”
Further Q and A sessions will be held on:
Friday 4 September - 1pm to 2pm.
Thursday 10 September – 11am to 12 noon.
Contact Matt for more information and to express an interest in seeking election.
