Delegates from across England and Wales are in London for the next two days for the annual national Police Federation conference.
West Midlands Police Federation has branch representatives at the conference which has the theme ‘The Real State of Policing’.
Speakers this year include former Labour Home Secretary Lord Blunkett and former Conservative police minister Lord Herbert who will join Federation officials for a review of the evidence members provided to the Leadership Commission and a discussion about how that evidence needs to translate into action.
Day 1 of conference will begin with an introduction from facilitator Ian Collins and a tribute to fallen officers before Ben Hudson, chair of the Federation’s National Detectives’ Forum, gives an update on the successful culmination of the Federation’s Simplify DG6 campaign.
Other sessions on Day 1 will include a panel session discussing the Federation’s transformation programme and the presentations of the Outstanding Contribution to Women in Policing and Rep of the Year Awards.
On Thursday, there will be a keynote speech from Paul Williams, acting deputy national chair, and a keynote session with a senior politician.
