On World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September), West Midlands Police Federation is encouraging officers to take a moment to reflect on their own wellbeing - and the wellbeing of those around them.
Chair of West Midlands Police Federation Jess Davies said: “Policing can be relentless. We often put the job first and ourselves last, but nobody should have to carry the weight of stress, anxiety or despair alone. Talking about how you feel, and asking for help if you need it, can make all the difference.
“Your Federation is here for you, as are a range of confidential support services. Whether you need professional guidance or just someone to listen, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Looking after yourself means you can continue to look after others.”
Members are being reminded that today is an opportunity to check in on your colleagues.
Jess ended: “A simple ‘how are you doing?’ could open the door for someone to talk and feel supported.”
