The nomination deadline for the West Midlands Police Federation Bravery Awards 2026 is fast approaching, with the branch specifically looking for Wolverhampton officers to be put forward for recognition.
Set for its third edition in January, the Bravery Awards is a ceremony which celebrates outstanding acts of courage and initiative from personnel across the Force.
Typically, these acts involve officers risking their own safety and protecting the public from harm in some capacity.
Before announcing an overall winner, the ceremony will present awards in various geographical categories, based on nominations from the following areas:
Birmingham
Coventry
Dudley
Sandwell
Solihull
Walsall
Wolverhampton
There will also be an ‘other’ category for officers from outside these areas, as well as an Inspiration in Policing Award – dedicated to the memory of the former West Midlands Police Federation deputy chair Sam Hughes, who died in 2023.
Branch members are encouraged to nominate a Wolverhampton-based colleague who has demonstrated remarkable bravery in the last year.
At the previous Bravery Awards, PCs Ben Chilcott and Callum Dee were named as winners for Wolverhampton after they saved the life of a knife attack victim.
The unarmed duo acted instinctively to run into a property and apprehend a man who had repeatedly stabbed the victim in the chest, before any further violence could be inflicted.
The window for West Midlands Police Federation Bravery Awards 2026 is Tuesday 30 September 2025.
