Time is running out to secure yourself a special commemoration of the Force’s 50th anniversary as West Midlands Police Museum reaches its final stock of Yankee Mike Whisky.
In 2024, the museum brought out the tipple to mark a half-century of West Midlands Police, with a unique police radio code and call sign, Yankee Mike, behind the exclusive product’s branding.
This came after the purchase of a cask of single malt Fettercairn Scotch whisky from the well-known Hunter Laing distillers.
Museum Heritage Manager Corinne Brazier has urged Federation members to act quickly before the cask – which contained 319 bottles to begin with – sells out.
“The decision to mark the Force’s anniversary with this whisky was definitely a good one – now into the following year, we are still really proud of the product and the design we came up with,” Corinne said.
“We have received a lot of great feedback on it, including from big whisky enthusiasts, and both police officers themselves and their friends and family. It makes a wonderful gift for so many different people.
“Stock is now down to around 30 bottles, so this is really the last chance to purchase a piece of West Midlands Police history.
“It could even make a perfect Father’s Day present, as it could be bought now and will obviously keep for a very long time, unopened.
“So, if you are interested, please get your order in as early as you can.”
Aged over a 15-year period, the quality of the whisky itself has been assured by one of the finest distillers of Scotch around.
It comes in a standard 750ml bottle – which in turn comes in bespoke packaging – and is priced at £60.
Yankee Mike Whisky is available to buy on the West Midlands Police Museum website, where delivery options are indicated. Purchasers can also arrange collection from the museum at their own discretion.
Also still available on the exhibition’s website is the West Midlands Police 50th Anniversary Challenge Coin, another item designed to mark the Force’s special milestone.
The product is a real collector’s item, making up part of a limited edition set of challenge coins collected my many people within law enforcement, and can be purchased for £12.
