Fun for all the family is on offer over Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December at the museum, with all the stops being pulled out to ensure an enjoyable time is had by each and every visitor.
Following another busy year, the exhibition – housed at the Lock-Up on Steelhouse Lane in Birmingham – is rounding off its events calendar with a Santa’s grotto and a special festive evening certain to warm your Christmas spirit.
Heritage Manager Corinne Brazier said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming visitors into our museum and putting a big smile on everyone’s faces.
“Our grotto is something we are very excited about – in this new era for the museum since it’s been permanently relocated, we are yet to host one, but this year is the year for our first.
“Ticket holders will have their own time slot to meet Father Christmas, where they will receive a gift, and can get involved with a Christmas-themed trail, crafts and other activities.
“If you’re looking for somewhere to take your child to have a chat with Santa this year, our museum will tick all the boxes and guarantees a safe, welcoming environment for all.”
A chance to visit the grotto will be available in time slots from 10am to 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
Meanwhile, Saturday will host more festive fun as evening rolls around, with a wonderful night-time event set to take place at the Lock-Up.
From 6pm to 8pm, visitors will enjoy mulled wine – alcoholic or non-alcoholic – hot chocolate and mince pies as they watch carols sung by a choir and soak up a merry atmosphere.
A captivating performance can be expected from the Shropshire-based, all-female VocaBella, who were Midlands Choir of the Year finalists in 2024.
Kids are welcome to the occasion, which will be ticketed separately from daytime proceedings but will also offer an extra window for grotto visits as part of admittance.
Corinne added: “We are just as thrilled to have our evening event planned, and we think it will make for a lovely couple of hours.
“As much as children will enjoy themselves whatever time they’re here over the weekend, the Saturday evening is an opportunity for adults to indulge in a bit of Christmas cheer.
“We think the choir will sound amazing in the unique acoustic environment of the Lock-Up, which is a big open atrium. It should be fantastic to see and hear.
“After giving another year of incredible service to the police force, we want Federation members to know they are more than welcome at our museum to switch off, relax and enjoy Christmas with us.”
Tickets for both Santa’s grotto and the festive evening are available on the West Midlands Police Museum website. Prices are listed, with free admission for children under the age of three at both events.
