West Midlands Police Museum is offering Federation members the perfect festive treat with an exclusive whisky marking the Force’s 50th anniversary.
Earlier this year, the museum decided to commemorate West Midlands Police’s half-century of existence by purchasing a cask of single malt Fettercairn Scotch whisky from the well-known Hunter Laing distillers.
The cask, totalling 319 bottles, was then branded as Yankee Mike Whisky – a nod to the Force’s unique police radio code and call sign.
Museum Heritage Manager Corinne Brazier revealed the all the details behind the special product.
“We wanted to do something really nice for the anniversary, and after exploring a few different options, we settled on whisky – and it has been a huge success,” she said.
“Over the last few months, it’s proven to be a fantastic gift for people, whether received by police officers or them buying it for friends and family. We think it just is a lovely way to mark a momentous year in the history of our police force.
“The whisky itself hasn’t been skimped on – it’s of an excellent standard, aged for 15 years from one of the most renowned makers in Scotland. And it comes presented in gorgeous packaging, too.
“So, overall, it’s something we are really proud to have brought out and we have been so excited to share it with our museum and policing families.”
Corinne added that the tipple has also been a hit with a number of whisky lovers, who she says have been left impressed with its quality.
And as the festive season gets underway, she has urged Fed members to be quick in securing what stock remains.
“We don't have many bottles left, so whether you might be thinking of it as a Christmas present for someone else, or you might need to drop a hint about it for yourself, make sure you do so soon.
“If there is any quantity left, the whisky will still be able to be bought in the new year, but we do anticipate that we will sell out over Christmas – so please get your order in as early as you can.”
Yankee Mike Whisky comes in a standard 750ml bottle and is priced at £60.
It is available to buy on the West Midlands Police Museum website, where delivery options are indicated. Purchasers can also arrange collection from the museum at their own discretion.
