Federation chair Rich Cooke has wished luck to a West Midlands police officer ahead of the 2024 national Police Bravery Awards this month.
Constable Glenn Brabham has been nominated for the Bravery Awards after he rescued two elderly women from underneath a car that had accidentally reversed into them last year.
Glenn, who was unsure whether the women were alive as he arrived at the incident, courageously manoeuvred himself underneath the car and remained there for over five minutes, managing to remove one of the ladies from beneath the unstable vehicle.
The second woman was then brought to safety with the assistance of Fire and Ambulance crews, and they were subsequently taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Both continue to make good recoveries from their respective injuries.

Rich, who will be attending the Awards ceremony on behalf of the Federation, said: “Glenn has already received a lot of recognition at local and regional levels for his exemplary policing that day, which I think is fully deserved. To have the bravery and courage to physically put himself under an unstable car, but also the calmness to verbally reassure the vulnerable women, was exceptional.
“I hope he now goes on and wins the national award and I wish him all the best. Whatever happens, however, I’m sure he will enjoy his evening surrounded by many other great officers.”
The heroic cop himself will be present at the ceremony, set to held on Thursday (11 July) in London. He will be joined by his wife, Becca.
