Pensions Tribunal: statement from West Midlands Police Federation

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has responded to the Pensions Challenge Employment Tribunal judgment announced on Wednesday (7 June).

On several occasions, the West Midlands Branch has taken an independent approach to the issue, from having the only branch chair to vote in favour of paying PPC fees in 2019, to subsequently, in 2020, conducting a survey of members locally on the subject. 

Our officers work tirelessly to protect the people of the West Midlands and we understand they feel let down. They can rest assured that their local branch will continue to work hard protecting their interests without fear or favour. 

This development must be carefully considered, and the organisation has to be committed to being accountable, transparent and prepared to make potentially fundamental changes to ensure it stands up effectively for the officers it represents and protects their interests.
