Tributes have been paid to Detective Constable Brian Sault who died on 12 March at the age of 55 after a very short but hard battle with cancer.
Brian spent most of his 27-year career with West Midlands Police as a detective working in homicide at Harborne police station.
He received many commendations from the Chief Constable and judges throughout his career for his dedication to ensuring victims and their families obtained justice for the loss of their loved ones.
Brian had also previously served the communities in Dudley, Wednesbury and West Bromwich as a frontline officer.
As well as being one of the Force’s finest officers, Brian also served in the armed forces with the Royal Corps of Transport between 1986 and 1995.
Brian leaves behind his beloved wife, Sharon, five children, a daughter-in-law, son-in-law and two grandchildren.
West Midlands Police Federation deputy chair Sam Hughes said: “I was lucky enough to work at the same station as Brian in my earlier career over at Wednesbury and I can honestly say he was a true gent and an excellent police officer.”
Funeral arrangements are still being finalised and will be announced in due course.
