Tailor-made physiotherapy is available for injured West Midlands Police officers to help them on the road to recovery.
The Police Treatment Centres (PTC) offers personalised treatment programmes designed by experienced physiotherapists to meet the needs of officers who are injured on or off duty.
The programmes include intensive and personalised physiotherapy, police-specific programmes and a variety of fitness classes.
There are nutrition and education sessions, a first-class rehab gym and hydrotherapy pools.
There is also the option of attending sessions from home via the PTC’s new remote online service.
The remote service is suitable for officers who find it hard to travel or have dependents making a residential stay difficult. It also allows for social distancing during the pandemic.
Sessions can be delivered by video over the internet or, for officers who don’t have access, over the telephone.
The treatment centres are available to all serving West Midlands Police officers, PCSOs, Special Constables and detention and custody officers from the start of next year. Retired officers can also sign up at a lower rate.
Any serving officer who had previously been donating to Flint House will automatically be transferred to the PTC from 1 January 2021. Any officer wishing to stay with Flint House will need to contact payroll and also set up a direct debit for their subscription.
If you are not currently subscribing to Flint House but would like to find out more about subscribing to the PTC please visit the centres’ website where you can also find the sign-up forms.
The PTC is a registered charity supported by voluntary donations from the police family. Officers currently make a donation from their pay of £1.80 per week.
Almost 4,000 serving and retired officers attend the two centres in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and Auchterarder, Perthshire, each year with most receiving intensive physiotherapy. Others seek support with stress-related conditions or anxiety and depression as part of a Psychological Wellbeing Programme
