Police officers are adapting to the coronavirus crisis and doing their best to continue to serve their communities, says Jon Nott, chair of West Midlands Police Federation.
“These are challenging times for the nation as a whole but officers are responding to the crisis and changing the way they work to ensure that they can maintain the visible policing presence we know the public find reassuring,” says Jon.
“Just this morning, a team of officers from Brownhills put out a tweet saying they were heading out on push bikes, but putting social distancing into practice by splitting off from each other, patrolling their beat areas and actually covering more ground.
“I am sure this kind of thing is going on across the Force area and that officers are doing their best to maintain a ‘business as usual’ approach but also adhere to the Government’s guidelines where they can.”
