The Force has been praised for ensuring officers have access to PPE during the Coronavirus crisis.
John Williams, deputy chair of West Midlands Police Federation, says around 50,000 face masks have been made available to officers and staff along with gloves and hand sanitiser.
“We were given an update on PPE during the Force wellbeing advisory group meeting yesterday and I have also spoken to a number of officers around the Force since. By all accounts, there is plenty of PPE to go around at the moment so officers and staff can take all necessary precautions when carrying out their duties,” says John.
“We are pleased the Force has managed to secure these protective items at a time when we know some forces have been struggling to do so. We will continue to monitor the situation but if, in the meantime, officers are aware of any shortages or areas without PPE then please feed this into your local SPOC who will arrange an order and delivery from shared services.”
