Issues surrounding policing during the pandemic feature heavily in the July edition of our members’ magazine which is now available to read online.
In his column, Jon Nott, chair of West Midlands Police Federation, highlights the number of assaults on police officers, particularly those where offenders have spat or coughed at officers while claiming to have coronavirus.
He says: “I guess we all know that there will always be people who will try to use a crisis to their advantage but this really is stooping incredibly low.”
There are also features on how the Federation’s health and safety reps are working with the Force to ensure officer and staff safety as people return to offices and police bases and how flexible working during the pandemic has brought benefits to the Force.
Away from coronavirus, Federation rep Sam Hughes talks about returning to work after treatment for breast cancer and working with the Force to ensure others who find themselves in similar circumstances get all the support they need and there’s an update on the fund-raising for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Primrose Hospice in the name of ACC Chris Johnson.
