Nicky looks back on her career in latest ezine

26 October 2023

Welsh lead Nicky Ryan looks back on her career in the autumn edition of Welsh Matters, the magazine for the Police Federation’s Welsh Affairs Sub-Committee, as she prepares for retirement later this year.

Nicky discusses her work to ensure the voice of rank and file officers is heard and raise awareness of the issues they face with politicians in Wales.

There’s a focus on the National Police Memorial Day service held in Cardiff in which Nicky talks about the privilege she felt at reading out the roll of honour.

Nicky speaks of her delight that the Police Federation of England and Wales has won the official backing of the Welsh Government for its Medals for Heroes campaign.

But she also voices her frustration that the Government in Westminster has not signed off the campaign to honour fallen officers during her review of the annual Police Federation of England and Wales conference.

Plus, members are urged to use the free Operation Hampshire trauma reporting app to record incidents of assault.
