New partnership to provide support for members with addiction issues

8 February 2024

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) Welsh co-lead has welcomed a new partnership that will provide support for members with addiction issues.

Zac Mader said PFEW linking up with Help4Addiction and Rehubs would offer officers a ‘lifeline’ to help them cope with their addictions.

He said: “There’s a lot of stigma surrounding addictions, particularly in policing.

“However, we’re all human and we know it can happen, and when it does we need professional help and support.

“Members can wait weeks, even months from doctors to get counselling or support, but when you’re in a crisis you need that help and support straight away.

Help4Addiction and Rehubs offer just that and have been set up by a former police officer who knows all about the impact addiction can have.”

Help4Addiction provides confidential support for police officers, staff, and their families with any addiction, be it alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, or porn addiction.

Rehubs offers a digital approach to addiction recovery with an online rehab programme. The Rehubs app is available from the App Store and Google Play Store and is FREE to members by using the code POLFED under the ‘use company code’ prompt at the bottom of the payment page.

They have been set up by Nick Conn, a former police officer with his own lived experience of addiction, who was a guest speaker at PFEW’s first men’s health webinar in November.

Zac added: “This is a labour of love for Nick, who wants to provide members and their families with a lifeline to help with their issues.

“I’m really pleased that the Federation has been able to link up and offer this vital support to members who need it.”
