Building closer links between the Federation and PCCs

20 October 2021

The Federation’s Welsh lead will now be invited to attend regular meetings between the Police and Crime Commissioners for the four forces in Wales.

The move comes after Dafydd Llywelyn, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Dyfed Powys and chair of the Policing in Wales Group, met with Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) Welsh lead Nicky Ryan.

“We had a very constructive meeting,” explains Nicky, “Dafydd was keen to engage with the Federation and to find out more about the issues facing police officers as they serve their communities.

“The four PCCs for Wales are obviously in close contact with each other but they generally meet more formally a couple of times a year and we will now be invited to attend these meetings too.

“In turn, the PCCs have monthly meetings with the Welsh Government so I hope these meetings will ensure that there is good dialogue, in both directions, between officers, the Federation, PCCs and the Government itself.”
