An officer who has displayed exceptional policing and leadership skills so early in her career has won the Eastern Division Officer Award at the Surrey Police Federation Recognition Awards 2025.
Acting Sergeant Chloe Cook has been described by her colleagues as “an outstanding officer” who consistently demonstrates the highest standards of professionalism, dedication and ethical conduct.
Despite being only five and half years into her policing career, she has already established herself as an exceptional performer and a key asset to both her team and the wider East Division.
A/Sgt Cook is proactive and tenacious, as well as having strong investigative abilities and clear leadership talents. She has continued to go from strength to strength and take on new challenges.
A/Sgt Cook takes an active role in coaching and mentoring, particularly with newer officers who are still building confidence in their operational and investigative skills. She provides clear, constructive feedback and encourages best practice, leading by example in every aspect of the role.
She always takes the time to check in with colleagues, listen to them, and offer meaningful support. A colleague said: “Chloe is an extremely strong and caring person, a brilliant officer, and a credit to Surrey Police. She is the glue of this team - and treats everyone like her work family.”
A/Sgt Cook commented: “I just like being able to help people and make sure they're okay. I had a really positive coaching experience myself, and I think it's good to pass that down. There are some people who are less confident, so I'd just like to help them a bit as well.”
She added that it was important to have a positive relationship with the public too: “It's really positive to build those good relationships, because it always comes full circle. If people have a good idea of us, then they're more likely to call us when they need us, rather than get hurt or deal with it themselves.”
When she heard she had won an award, she was initially surprised, adding: “I had no idea people had nominated me, but it was very nice news to receive.”
Surrey Police Federation Chair Darren Pemble said: “Chloe delivers incredible outcomes for her team, while always being calm, measured and compassionate towards the public and her colleagues.
“She has only recently become an Acting Sergeant, but shows real confidence in her role, with colleagues regularly turning to her for advice. Her operational intuition makes her a formidable presence in proactive policing and she has achieved great results. She is a worthy winner of this award.”
As the winner of a Surrey Police Federation Recognition Award, Acting Sgt Cook will attend a prestigious Awards Ceremony on 4 December.
