Falling Through Asbestos Roofs
Officers / staff need to be aware that the type of roof shown in the picture below is made from asbestos cement, often seen on garages, industrial and agricultural buildings. These roofs are fragile and will not bear weight. Do not attempt to cross these roofs, you will fall through it. Also, do not pursue suspects or encourage suspects to go across these roofs as they will fall through, contaminating the person with asbestos and the height of fall could result in death or serious injury.
We have a guide on asbestos and operational policing here. They contain links to the force asbestos contractor who can give you help and support in an asbestos incident.

The first-ever National Police Uniform and Equipment Survey is now live.
The survey has been created by researchers at the Lancaster University, in collaboration with PFEW and the National Uniform Portfolio as part of the NPCC, and supported by UNISON and the Superintendents Association.
Previous studies have emphasised the critical need for appropriate uniform designs that cater to the diverse physical and emotional needs of both male and female police officers.
The data from this survey will be used to inform future national decision-making about uniform design, usability, and safety for all officers and staff.
If you have any queries or if you are unhappy with anything that happens concerning your participation in the study, please contact impactofuniform@gmail.com or the PFEW research team on researchanddatacollection@polfed.org.
Closing date: 12 August.
