Pensions update for Surrey Police officers

12 June 2020

For the attention of all Surrey officers who have left the organisation since April 2015 who were tapered, or transferred onto the Care Scheme prior to leaving or retiring. For those who are currently on a career break or off for a significant amount of time and you do not have access to your police email.

This is further to the announcement on 15 May 2020 that the Police Federation of England & Wales intends to launch a Group Action against the Government on behalf of police officers who were victims of discrimination and suffered ‘injury to feelings’, as a result of changes to pensions caused by the introduction of a new scheme in 2015.

If you wish to be included in the Group Action, you must complete the online Application Questionnaire. The link for Surrey officers can be obtained from Surrey Police Federation office by contacting us via the email admin@surrey.polfed.org.

You can access the online Application Questionnaire on your mobile phone, laptop or tablet device.  You must complete all sections of the online Application Questionnaire and submit it before the deadline of 17 July 2020.  Incomplete applications, those where the necessary consents are not provided, and applications submitted after this date will not be considered.

The Group Action is being handled on PFEW’s behalf by the leading UK and international law firm, Penningtons Manches Cooper.  Once you have submitted your completed online Application Questionnaire, and following a validation process, you will be contacted via your personal email address.
