Police Regs

Terms & Conditions

We have produced a Quick Reference Guide in line with our current understanding of Police Regulations 2003 and determinations, Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020, Police (Complaints and Misconduct) Regulations 2020 and Police (Performance) Regulations 2020 as of January 2025

This summary of officers' main terms and conditions is not intended to be exhaustive, nor can it be considered a substitute for the original regulations and determinations which govern the terms and conditions of appointment. An updated version will be produced as and when regulations change.

If you have specific questions regarding your conditions, please contact your local Federation.

Maternity

Maternity Guide and Calculator is available for our members to ensure they get the right information about entitlements and pay.

The booklet highlights what to expect during pregnancy, maternity leave and on return to work. There are also a range of entitlements available to partners.

The guide has received a new element which is the calculator. The calculator will enable officers to calculate their accurate pay by entering in certain information on dates.

The calculator also allows members to put different dates in for different scenarios i.e., longer leave premature birth or sick from pregnancy-related reasons in the weeks prior to their due date.

Pensions

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) pensions team provides regular newsletters and website updates on a complete range of police pension issues and related topics - PFEW Pensions

If you have not received the newsletter please email pensionenquiries@polfed.org.

You can also listen to PFEW's latest episodes of Podcasts answering FAQs on various topics.

In addition, the NPCC publishes updates regularly via its website and we have referenced several of its documents within the topic areas below. The NPCC has also developed a Remedy Calculator for use.
