Suffolk Police Federation secretary Ben Hudson has paid tribute to a Force sergeant who died in the line of duty 34 years ago.
Sergeant John Masterson collapsed and died while on motorcycle escort duty during a royal visit to the county on 26 June 1992. He was 46.
Ben said: “Today we pause to remember John, his contribution to policing, and his service to the communities of Suffolk.
“The thoughts of everyone at Suffolk Police Federation are with his family, friends, and colleagues.
“It’s vitally important we remember and honour our colleagues who never returned home at the end of their shift. We will not forget them.”
