Pension - Maternity Issues

PFEW is aware that there are a number of maternity pension concerns and are canvassing all officers affected via an online form so that they can gather a nationwide picture of the issues.

In particular, they are looking at the following:

• the maternity/part time/career break picture in terms of contingent decisions and pension buy back as those areas are currently not covered by the contingent
  decision process
• issues with officers who paid pension for unpaid periods of all forms of parental leave (but particularly maternity leave) not having that recorded, especially if they transferred forces
• the issue of forces not informing officers of the ability to purchase pension for periods of unpaid parental leave when they return to work
