Northamptonshire Police Federation

Members invited to take part in multi-sports event

21 November 2024

A free taster event is being held this weekend at which Northamptonshire Police Federation members can try out a range of adaptive and disabled sports.

Members can also find out about a new adaptive and disability sports hub being launched for officers in the East Midlands.

Police UK Disability Sport (PUKDS), which is hosting the event, aims to set up teams for officers in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, and Lincolnshire forces.

PUKDS is launching the hub at its multi-sport event at Nottinghamshire Police headquarters in Arnold.

The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday (23 and 24 November), from 10am to 6pm on both days.

Adaptive and disability sports available to try include:

  • Wheelchair rugby

  • Wheelchair basketball

  • Sitting volleyball

  • Wheelchair American football

  • Wheelchair rugby eague

  • Indoor bowls

  • Darts

  • Pool

  • Table Tennis

Gary had organised a similar event earlier in the summer but attendance was impacted by the riots and public disorder.

Now, with the support of Nottinghamshire Police and the Federation branch, the event has been rescheduled for this weekend.

He said: “It’s free to everyone in the policing community so please come down and try out all of these great sports.

“It’s really exciting and we’d love as many people as possible to come and join us and to see what we have to offer.”
