Lancashire Police Federation

History of the Memorial Gardens

Fallen officers from Lancashire have been celebrated for their bravery and service to their local community for generations but unlike some other police forces, Lancashire didn't have a location for the names of those officers to be displayed.

Former Chair of Lancashire Police Federation, Rachel Power (formerly Baines), created the momentum for the idea of a remembrance garden to become a reality.

Money was raised through donations and the gardens were finally opened in 2017 after much hard work and dedication. Each year in September Lancashire Police Federation and Lancashire Constabulary hold a service of remembrance to celebrate the lives of the men and women who died on duty serving their community.

In 2024 the new memorial pages were launched on the Police Federation website www.polfed.org/Lancashire detailing the many stories of those brave officers.

The Memorial Garden was opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire 20th June 2017. Rachel Baines (Power) received special commendation for her work in relation to the creation of the Memorial Gardens.
