Fed chair lays wreath for Armistice Day

12 November 2024

To mark this year’s Armistice Day (11 November), chair of Gwent Police Federation, Matthew Candy, honoured fallen servicemen and women by laying a wreath at Force headquarters.

He was joined by representatives from Gwent Police, including Acting Chief Constable Mark Hobrough.

Matthew Candy and Acting Chief Constable Mark Hobrough.

Matthew emphasised the importance of remembering those who served: “Today, as part of Gwent’s annual observance, we stood together with colleagues - and the nation - to honour the legacy of those who gave everything.

“Their bravery and dedication remain an inspiration to us all, and we are committed to ensuring their sacrifice is never forgotten.”

The ceremony was one of many that took part across Gwent today, whereby communities came together to reflect and show gratitude.
