Colleagues encouraged to put themselves forward as PFEW Reps

7 January 2025

Becoming a Federation Rep can give officers the chance to make a difference to their lives of their colleagues and influence change.

That’s the view of Essex Police Federation, as it gears up for this year’s Federation election cycle.

Nominations for workplace representatives are open until 24 January, with the election period planned for 3-23 February, and results announced on 27 February.

Essex Police Federation Chair Laura Heggie has encouraged colleagues to get involved in the process.

She said: “This is an opportunity for you to have a chance to make a difference and influence change.

“Although it can be very demanding – and on occasions time consuming – there are those times when you really help someone who thought their whole world was coming to an end or they just can’t see a way through.

“Those days are extremely rewarding; when you get the right result or a fair outcome, those are the good days.”

Laura said anyone who has questions about standing for election can speak to an existing Federation Rep or contact the Essex Police Federation office.

Officers who want to stand for election can nominate themselves via an email that has already been sent out. If anyone hasn’t received it, email essex@polfed.org or call 01245 219140.
