Essex Police officers are being asked to keep former colleague Ewan Smith firmly in their thoughts.
PC Smith, who was in his 30s, suddenly died recently, leaving behind a wife and three small children. His death was not related to the coronavirus.
Movement and gathering restrictions in place because of the coronavirus mean the force will not be able to honour him in the way they have fallen colleagues in the past.
Steve Taylor, Chairman of Essex Police Federation, said: “I’d like all of us to reflect on that and to keep Ewan and his family, wife Natalie and the children in our thoughts as we deal with this crisis in front of us.
“We’re not going to be able to attend his funeral, and it will be some time before we can have a memorial for him. So please, let’s keep him, his family and all the colleagues we’ve lost front of mind as we go about our duties.”
