Essex Police Federation Chairman Steve Taylor has spoken of his disappointment at the postponement of what was going to be the organisation’s first-ever Police Bravery Awards.
Coronavirus has put paid to the celebration of Essex officers’ dedication and courage – for now.
Plans are already in place to hold the event, which is in association with Uniform Mortgages, in October.
Steve said: “In the grand scheme of things, it’s a really simple, straightforward decision because there are far more important things for us to be concentrating on.
“But when we allow ourselves the luxury to think about it, we are really disappointed that we’ve had to postpone our inaugural event. We believe recognising the brave deeds that officers in Essex undertake on an almost daily basis is worth all of our time.
“But equally we’ve got to balance that with where we’ve got to be professionally, and be responsible as to when we hold that event.
“Postponing it was the right thing, but we look forward to the new event hopefully which we can hold at the new postponed date in October.”
Also sponsoring the event are JRM Mortgage Solutions, Police Mutual, No1CopperPot, Motorola Solutions, Capita Secure Solutions and Services, George Burrows and Rates Ford.
