Federation Chairman meets Home Secretary Priti Patel to develop working relationship

Essex Police Federation Chairman Steve Taylor met Home Secretary Priti Patel recently to develop a new working relationship with the Essex MP.

Steve spoke to the Minister at a Parliamentary event and has already arranged for a lengthier meeting with her so he can further the cause of policing and police officers in the county.

“It was the first time I’ve met her and as a result of that meeting I’ve got a sit-down meeting arranged with her in a few weeks; she invited me to the Home Office so I’ll be taking her up on that,” Steve said.

“I’m very much hoping to put an Essex context onto some of the national policing programmes which we’re looking to advance.

“And I want to keep her, as an Essex MP, in the local loop when it comes to the state of Essex Police and the Essex Federation and Essex officers. I just wanted to give the national work an Essex voice.

“The fact that she’s Home Secretary can’t hurt in furthering these issues either.”
