Durham Police Federation

Branch roadshow gets off to a successful start

16 March 2026

Durham Police Federation deputy chair Louise Ramshaw has hailed the branch’s first roadshow event of 2026 as a ‘real success’.

Held at Darlington Police Station, it was visited by members from neighbourhood policing teams, response, safeguarding and CID.

Louise said: “It was a real success and fantastic to see colleagues from across so many different departments.

“The event was really well received and it was great to have the opportunity to speak with members face-to-face, answer their questions, discuss the issues and challenges they’re facing, and highlight the support available to them.”

The roadshow aims to give members an informal opportunity to meet their Federation reps.

It’s also a chance to find out more about partner organisations and how they can support officers and their families.

One of those partners is No1 Copperpot credit union, which attended the event to provide members with information about the financial services it offers to the police family.

No1 Copperpot aims to build a community bank for the Police Family to regularly save, affordably borrow and increase financial education, and already works with more than 30 forces.

Payroll

Louise said: “Our payroll department has been fantastic in setting up a payroll deduction option, which will be in place for April’s pay.

“For example, if you have a regular saving plan, it will come off your pay before you get it, which is really convenient for most.”

Louise also thanked Nosa, which has donated 2,500 of its mentholated nose plugs for members to try.

Designed to help manage strong odours, the products were quickly picked up by officers attending the roadshow.

Louise said: “Nosa make incredibly discreet mentholated nose plugs which are, in my opinion, a real game-changer for dealing with work involving strong odours.”
