Dorset Police Federation

New Chair For Dorset Police Federation

Chris Wood has been elected as the new Chair of Dorset Police Federation.

Chris has been a workplace Rep for six years, and has worked as Federation Treasurer for four years and Deputy Chair for three.

He said: “I am happy to be elected, happy to be supported by the members and I’m really keen to reward that faith with some positive action.

“The first thing I want to do is write to all of our members to thank them but also to find out what their issues are. And then following that up with once a month popping up at a station so people can come and talk to us.

“A big thing for me is ‘you said, we did’ so we can give real genuine feedback not just to the person who asked us a question but to the whole membership – this is what was asked, this is what we’ve done, and this is the outcome.

“Ultimately, we’re there to serve our members. We wouldn’t exist without our members, so in order to understand what they want us to be doing, we need to have better engagement with them and understand their issues.

“We also need to help them understand what it is we do as a Federation. I think everyone knows we’re there when you need to email the office if you have a question about regulations, or you’ve done something wrong and PSD have come knocking; but there’s so much more we do that people don’t know about.

“I want to make that change that we re-engage with our membership and be more there for them rather than just there in the background.

“I would like to say a big thank you to the members for putting their trust in me and I look forward to working with them and for them in the next three years.”
