Christmas and New Year Message from Dorset Police Federation Chair Chris Wood

On behalf of Dorset Police Federation, I would like to extend my thanks and best wishes to all our members and their families as we approach the festive season.

Christmas is a time that many people look forward to as an opportunity to slow down and spend time with loved ones, however it remains one of the busiest periods for Policing.

For many of our members the festive period will be spent on duty working long unsociable hours, and missing out on those precious moments with loved ones.

This commitment does not go unnoticed and although it often may not feel like it, the work you do is appreciated by the vast majority of the people we serve.

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for some.

Therefore taking time to rest, recharge, and step away from the pressures of work is vitally important.

Please look after yourselves and continue to look out for one another, and wherever possible, find some time for yourselves over this festive period.

I want to personally thank each and every one of you for your continued dedication, professionalism, and resilience throughout what has been another challenging year in Dorset.

My thanks also must go to your families and loved ones whose support, understanding and the sacrifices they have to make are an essential part of the service you provide every day to the communities we serve.

Finally, I want to reassure you that Dorset Police Federation is here for you. I, along with the Branch Secretary and CAPLO, will be on call during Christmas and the New Year.

We also have representatives on duty throughout Christmas, New Year, and beyond. Should you need support, advice, or representation at any point, please remember that we are here for you.
